The 131103- was in a Euod statu of preservation. Th-e lind ing of the buoy appear? to bear oul the assumption that' the Duco foundered in or near- Cook Strait a fev-, hours after leaving Wellington. From time to time there have been re l,oris of the discovery of articles belonging to 'tlie ill-fated steamer, Oul on investigation ;'„hesc reports nave vve believe in every .instance, been disproved.
