'•'Dear Sir, —1 read your letter addressed to the editor of tlie ''Mailborough Jteralid" this morning, and hasten to be one of the first in this district to subscribe a small sum for n. memorial to the late llun. Colonel Pitt, aii.fi enclose my cheque for £o towards the same. Our late fri,end was for -ome time in partnership with, my late father, ex-Judge Conol'ly. in- "Wellington, au.d T acted in the capacity of managing clerk for them ; but both were more friends than, masters during that time; but long ibefore that, in- the sixties, and until quite a .few years ago, my father and Colonel Pitt were close friends, and were held by each other in h]*s"h estimation.
