Last night saw the Anal screening of the current scries of Haywara s pictures. A new series will be commenced on Monday next.

THE SKATING RINK

The usual sessions are continued at the skating rink, at the Druids' Hall. A ma-k and j'oster carnival wilL be held on August 29th and 30th. UI'MAHON BROS.' CIRCUS. McMahon Bros. Circus and Equesciuriculum gave two successful performances yesterday, the matinee being well patronised by school children, and the farewell programme in the evening was witnesed by another large audience. The company left for Blenheim to-day, playat the several townships en route. "A BACHELOR'S HONEYMOON."

"A Bachelor's Honeymoon" will be presented to-night at the Theatre Royal by the Ward Company. One of the special merits of the comedy is said to be that it provides scope for fine character acting to all members of the company. Though the fun centres round the character of Benjamin Bachelor, and his secret marriage with Juno Joyce, an actress, all the other people of the play are important to the plot, and not hangers on. Mr Hugh J. Ward should be in his element in the part of Bachelor, which is a type of character he has played before with great success. Indeed, it is a curious fact that though a young, forceful, and vigorous actor, Mr \Vard has. probably gained more populari ty in old men's parts than in any others. Miss Palotta has the bright and vivacious kind of character in which she excels, Miss Maud Chetwynd plays a broad comedy part, that of a modern day slavey. Miss Celia Ghiloni will represent a vinegary spinster, but will have a fine opportunity for comedy work. Mr Reginald Wykeham plays a lawyer, always in a hurry. Mr Arthur Eldred plays a humorous young Herman. Mr Robert Greig will be seen as an extravagant detective, while Misses Ruby Baxter and Florence Red fern will appear as the twin daughters of Benjamin Bachelor. "A Bachelor's Honeymoon' has just concluded a record run of seven weeks at the Palace Theatre, Sydney To-morrow evening the muchtalked of "The Girl from Rectors" will be staged, and the season concludes on Saturday evening with the farcical absurdity,' "The Man from Mexico."
