A PERMANENT PICTURE PALAGE IN NELSON, THE DRUIDS' HALL ENGAGED. Tb;e representative of the Royal Standard Picturo Company, Mr J. B. Petherick, for the last few days has been busy making arrangements for a Permanent Animated Picture Show in Nelaon. Mr Petherick ? s contention is that fully a dozen permanent shows are already established throughout the Dominion, while quite eight of the towns selected are im lv tbjmlaiion than Nelson. Therefore, given a first-Class, bigger, brighter-lighted, and more up-to-date show than yet seen here, and the venture should be a success. Mr Petherick has arranged for a lease of the Druids' Ball, Collingwood-street, where a first-class electric plant will be installed, to drive which a tcnhorseiporwer engine will be required, to be supplied and erected by Mr S. Win. Mr Petherick has also arranged with the Biograph Supplies Company to supply one of the latest and most perfect Pathe machines, and eight thousand feet of new films weekly, the first instalment of which will be displayed on the opening night, which has been arranged for Friday next, Ist prox. The opening programme will include "The flight of M. Louis Bleriot across the Channel," an achievement in aviation that set all the world talking only a few weeks ago. The preparations for the start' at Calais are well illustrated, and the bird-like machine is shown gliding away from the Camera, while it is completely -lost to sight over the waves of tht English Channel. A dramatic story by that world-renowend actress, Madame Sara -Bernhardt- and company Ir Sardou's masterpiece "La Tosca' : will also be displayed. Tho Naya 1 review in the Thames, fifty miles of war vessels, reaching from London to Southend-on-Sea, gives a realistic idea of the great set power on which rests the peace and prosperity of our Empire. A glimpse at the advor tisement column will enable readers to glean from the titles of the films that all classes will be catered for, embracing as they do science, romantic, natural, dramatic, comic, descriptive, humorous, and travel. The season Trill commence on Friday next, and it is promised that everything tending to the comfort of the public will be attended to. The prices are to be very moderate, and everything points to a successful enterprise being launched. The box office will be opened early next week at Jackson's. On Tuesday evening next the HaTmonie Society will render the second and third parts of Coleridge 1 Taylor's "Hiawatha," at the School of Music, and as the work has been in practice for a considerable time, an exceptionally good performance of this most enjoyable music is an--1 ticipated. The soloists will be Mrs ' Wright, nnd Messrs B. B. de Looze and H. Kidson. It is notified that a St. Mary's I concert, social, and dance will be ; held in the Druids' Hall on Wednes- ■ day evening, 6th prox.
