THE H BATTERY. ■■ ; :■ DOMINION DAY PARADES. " At the meeting of the Garrison Officers' Club on Saturday evening,. Captain A. A. Grace, of the H Battery,, delivered a highly interesting and instructive lecture on the use of ar^ tillery from the time of the battles of Ctessy and Agincourt up to ;the Franco-Prussian war. The lecture occupied an hour and a half, and Captain Grace dwelt principally ; - on '• major tactics," time not permitting him to touch on "minor tactics.". At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was acorded the lecturer. liieut.Colonel Joyce presided, and took the opportunity of congratulating Captain Grace and Lieut. D. Brown, of the H Battery, on their promotion Sunday next being Dominion Day, church parades will be held all over New Zealand. ' In Nelson the To*n Volunteers, College Cadets, and State School Cadets will attend service in the morning at the Cathedral, All Saints', and Presbyterian Churches, where qthe Chaplains will preach sermons appropriate to the occasion. The Waimea Rifles and Field Ambulance Corps will parade at Mrs Faulknet's grounds, jWakefleia, in the 'afternoon/ the Stoke Rifles at Richmond, and- the Wakatu Mounted Rifles in camp ;at Tapawera. Full dress will be wojn. by all corps. : - The "Wakatn Mounted Rifles will -go into camp at Tapawera this week for. the annual training. " , ideut.-tColonel E. W. C. Chaytfir, who recently passed through .t!ie Staff College at Camberley, England, is returning to New Zealand by the s.s. Tainui, due in Wellington about October 4th.
