THE-NORTHERN UNION.
(By Halifax.) : Tho Auckland League has secured its position as the headquarters of Northern Union football in the Dominion. Ths news that the Australian Leagua has cabled an invitation to the English Union to send a representative team to Australia next season will give pleasure to all interested in the game. A visit to Australia means a visit to New Zealand as well, and a visit to the Domr : nion should result in a match at Nelson as the chief object of tho English Union is to foster the game in thecoloniea, and the game, not the gate, in this case will be the first thought. ■ * Mr Lionel Isherwood has written tb the local club offering to bring a power ful team to Nelson on the 25th inst"y such players as Tom Cross, Instbne, K. Barber, Knight, and Twohill being in: eluded, but as the offer has been made too late in the season, Mr Isherwood will be asked to bring, a team over to open the game next April.' ;
