MOISTURE IN BUTTER.
A' PROSECUf'ION THAT FAILED. ; (United Press AsSOtiiATKiS,) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The case against the New Zealand Dairy Association, charged with shipping to London butter containing more than 16 per ceut. of moisture, was concluded at the Police . .Court this afternoon, before Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M. At (ihe conclusion of the evidence, Mr Kettle said that in view of the evidence he did not -consider the Crown had proved beyond all possibility of doubt that the butter, in question contained more than 16 per cent, of moisture. The case would therefore bo disniLied. He adversely criticised the metfhods whicii had been adopted by the Government graders in taking only one sample, and in --iot enabling the defendant to either witness, tho taking of the sample of to elieck the analysis. He thought that Whefe Samples were being taken witfi a view to a prosecution tliose sinteresied. slionld be given an opportunity of being present.
