TO-DAY'S FIRING.
.THE OTAGO AND WELLINGTON. MATCHES. TRENTHAM, Tuesday. Shooting commenced this morning with the 900 yards range in the Otago match, and the 600 yards in the Wellington match. The shooting opened in a dead calm, but shortly afterwards a strong breeze sprang up, interfering considerably with the marksmen, the only fortunate ones being those shooting early. At the 600 yards range James (Napier) put on 49, and is leading with 98, the nest in order being Earle (Rivcrsdale) 95, Dick (Riversdale) 94. SkeJly (Wellington) 91, Farley (Auckland) 91. In the 900 yards match Storkey (Napier) is leading with 96, Sorensvn (Newton) 94, Clyde (Waikari) 93, Montgomery (Port Chalmers) 92, Hawthorn (Wellington) 91, Beckinghara (Timaru) 91. There is every appearance of James (Napier) scoring a win in the match at the 900 yards. In the Otago match, Clyde (Dunedin) succeeded in getting the possible his total being 93. Maingay (Piako) has also a possible, with a ■total of 91.
