THE SERVICE MATCHES.
Shooting commenced to-day with the Service Matches at 200 and 500 yards. In the former in snap shooting the targets are exposed several times, each exposure being for three seconds, with irregular intervals between, the exposure varying from sto 30 seconds. The target with the 8-inch bulls is invisible to the firer, the bull's-eye only counting to decide ties, each hit on the figure scoring 5 points. 14 the 500 yards rapid firing the target has the same dimensions and the divisions as an ordinary second-class target. As the scores are taken at the butts the winners will possibly not be available for the evening papers to-day.
