Mr Jonathan Brough, who for many years has been employed in the Public Service in connection with road construction in this district, and more recently as an Inspector in the Department oJ doads, and who is now retiring from active duty, was to-day the recipient of a souvenir of regard from the officers of the local staff. The judgment of District Judge Haselden was read this morning m the District Court, in the motion on behalf of the Official Assignee to declare void a transfer from Thomas Hume, a bankrupt, to his two sons. The Judge decided that the transfer could not be set aside as a fraudulent proference, because it was mado moi than three months before the bankruptcy; nor under the statute oJ Elizaboth, because, although the bankrupt may have intended to defeat and delay his creditors, yet as he had promised his sons to transfer the land to the mia consideration of wages due to them, the transfer was lor valuable consideration, and it could not be said that the sona had not acted in good faith.
