HASTINGS BAND CONTESTS
[United Press Association.} HASTINGS, Thursday. Large and appreciative audiences have attended all tne events, and the financial ' success of the Band Contest is assured. I The gates at the garden party on luesday realised £92, and the quick step ' contest £160. The total takings to date, I including competitors' fees and season tickets, amount to £430. The first test in the A and B grades will bo held to-night at the racecourse, which will be electrically lighted. The weather Is fine, and it is anticipated that there will be a record attendance. Some of the results are : Eb bass competition : A. Gunner (Petono) 81 points 1 ; S. Signal (Wanßanui), DO 2- E. S. Vin.wn (Stratford), 79, 3. Bb 'bass : W. Penhall (Wanganui) 73, 1 ■ 0 Clavton (fJisborne), with 94 points, won the. BB bass solo at the band contest to-day.
