CO-OPERATIVE WORKERS AT DOMETT.
COMPLAINT TO THE MINISTER. "NO PAT FIR SEVEN "WEEKS." [Unhid Priss Association.] . CHRISTCHUEJCH, Thursday. The co-operative workers on the , railway erxteraion work's at Domett have written at sonic Ibngth to Mr R. , MeKSnaie, Minister of Works, on the > subject of delay in the payment of ■ thoir wages. The latter allege that " they started on October 6th, and that they have received only two pays between that and the present. They cannot, understand by what method of calculation the Minister arrives at the conclusion that "montVy pays aro being adhered to." They ask for compensation for the suspension of contracts between December 24tb and January sth, alleging that thoy wero willing to work, but wero not allowed to do so. The letter is sign-* ed by fifty-five men. On Tuesday some of the men ap pealed for an advaaco of pay, b:r. were refused, and in consequence Mr Campbell, presideat of the union, sent the following wire to Si' Joseph Ward: — "Co-op?rjt.:ve wor'tnrs at Domett havo not r^ce.'ved a'iy wages for seven weeks. Please,- Sir, wonld you deal us out a few shillings eaoh, and keep us believing?"
