CIVIL SERVANTS V. PRESS.

The annual football match betweeii teams from the Civil Servants and Press was played ot the Pork on Saturday afternoon, and attracted a large attendance of spectators. The Press were defeated < by 11 to 7. Tbe game was played in the very best of spirits, and afforded plenty : of amusement for the spectators, and I was played in four spells of 20 minutes ! duration. For the Service tries were scored by Binley and Hooker, and Park | converted a try and kicked a goal from , a mark. For the Press M. Spear scored , a try, and Jarret potted a goal. Mr Nalder made an ideal referee.

A pleasant and largely attended reunion followed the match, being held in the upstairs room of Mr Nightingale's Trocadero, and after an abundant spread had been partaken of songs, recitations, toasts, and speeches, etc., passed away the time all too quickly till 10.45. In the course of the evening it was stated lhat the gate money at the match, amounting to £4, wourd be handed over to the Hospital and Charitable Aid I Board, and with the Government subsidy the amount come to nearly £10.
