RIFLE SHOOTING.
NELSON RIFLHS. During the past fortnight the following competitions were held by the Nelson Rifles. The first one was for the Rev. J. H. MacKenzie's trophy, which was won out by Lieutenant Johnson, this being his third win. The ranges were 200 and 600 yards, 7 shots at each range, the following being the results : —
ihe second competition was held on Saturday last for a trophy presented by Mr F. Harford, when the best shooting of the season was done, and resulted in some close finishes. Corpl. Carter takes the leg-in, Lieutenant Johnson having won two trophies previously which is tho limit for the season. The ranges wero 200 and 300 yards, 10 shots at each range : —
