CRIPPLED BY FIRES.

DANNEVIRKE, Wednesday. . In an interview with a. "Daily Press", reporter, the manager of the Hawkes Bay Sawmillers' Association stated that the recent bush fires had practically crippled the sawmilling industry in the province. The output had fallen from an average of 3,250,000 ; to 1j750,000, and it was absolutely impossible . for mills in Hawkes Bay to supply orders -in time. Five mills had been practically destroyed by -fire — Cohrs,' Norsewood'' Parsons, Norsewood, Gamman's, Otanga, • Fairburn and Company's, Ponul,' and * Anderson and Sons', Piripiri; while other mill had suffered great loss in; tram lines and bridges. It was possible . that £10,000 would, be a - low estimate ' of the loss over the province," - ."
