MONTHLY INSPECTION PARADE.

INTERESTING PRESENTATIONS.

The monthly inspection parade of the Volunteers Was held last evening, when there were excellent musters. Lieut. Colonel Harkness was in command. A oour-o of drill w.i« S ono through a*Trafalgar Park under Lieut. -Colonel Harkness and Captains Stiles and Hammond. On returning to the Unll I Shed, Colonel Harkness presented to Sergeant J. Ching the silver medal for the best shot in the district, and congratulated him on his continued success. Sergeant Ching lias uvice won the South Island gold medal, and was second on another occasion. He has twice won the district medal, and also held the Championship Belt for the Dominion a few years ago. Three hearty cheers were given the recipient. The Stoke Bides last evening made a presentation to Lieut. W. Ching on the occasion of his marriage. The presentation was made by Colonel Harkness, a former commanding officer of the corps. Hearty cheers were given for Lieutenant and Mrs Ching. Lieutenant Ching suitably aekonwledged the gift. Non-commissioned officers who failed to sit for examination in January will have an opportunity next month, and it | is imperative that every N.C.O should sit. A class for candidates will commence next Saturday evening under Staff Sergt. -Major Jones, and those wishing to progress in military knowledge should attend.
