Millar, Minister of Labour, this morning, and questioned the legality of ,<,he recent proceedings by which the Saturday half-holiday was declared in the borough. Mr J. D. Willis submitted that the fairest way out o fthe difficulty would be to leave the issue to be settled by the raepayers constitutionally 12 months hence at the municipal elections. Mr Lloyd Jones stated that the gazetting of Saurday would inflict loss on many tradesmen. The Minister replied that neither Saturday nor Thursday would be gazetter till ho had secured the fullest .information on the subject. He desired to act in accordance with the wish of the majority of the townspeople 1 . The whole trouble was that Wanganui was a combined district.
