A STEAMER A GALE.
{I EOUGH EXPERIENCE. -, [Cotted Pbess Association. J AUCKLAND, Tuesday.. ,- The Norwegian steamer Inga, which arrived this morning, was rather roughly handled in the tail-ond of a gale encountered jubl after leaving Newcastle. A heavy sea knocked the steering gear out of order, and another swamped the foredeck and caused some damage. When replacing the canvas Covering of the No. 2 hold, Mr Holm, chief mate, and three of the crew, were washed thrice along the deck. Subsequently the mate and a seaman named Meredith were swept from stem to stern by the heavy sea, and they sustained some bruises.
