At the Supreme Court to-day the following prisoners, who had pleaded guilty in the lower' Court, were sentenced by Mr Justice Williams: — John Wells, horse stealing at Kae's Junction, admitted , to probation for twelve months; William David Johnson, a member of the Highland Rifles, for breaking into. and entering a house and intimidating the inmates, admitted to probation for six months^ and ordered to pay damages and costs of the prosecution; James McLaren, bicycle stealing, twelve ttidilths' imprisonment, and declared td be an habitual criminal; John Brown, theft df watohgs at Wellington in April, 1907, twelve months' imprisonment; Caleb Thomas, fof non-compliance with a probation order, twelve months' imprisonment.
