AUCKLAND, Friday. A seaman named Rufand Gonsvales, of the s.s. WaitaKi, was washed overboard and drowned during the passage of the steamer from Auckland to Tauranga. Deceased was a native of Cape de Yerdes, and came to New Zealand about 25 years in a whaler. He leaves a wife and a large family.
