MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TUESDAY; JUNE 11th, 1907.

DRUNKENNESS WHILE PROHIBITED. At the Magistrate's Court this morning Annie Starr appeared on remand chr.cged with drunkenness while a prohibited person. The Magistrate said that he had had a consultation with Mr Bond and the Adjutant of th? Salvation Army, and had decided that if the accused consented to immediately join the Good Templars tlu casa would be adjourned for a weak. If it was then found that the accused had joined the Good Tfimplars she would bo ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. If the accused did net join the Good Templars she would be sentenced to the heaviest sentence that could bs imposed for a second conviction for drunkenness. Concluding, Mr Kenny said, addressing the accused : "I think it a wise step for you to tak"e to free yourself from the bondage of a terrible weakness."

The accused consented to join the Good Templars, and the ease was then '.emanded for a week.

CIVIL CASKS.
