The Citizens' Band will give a con-cert-in the Botanical Gardens on Sunday afternoon next, commencing at 2.45 o'clock. In the orchard of Mr John Kilbride Southbiidge, Canterbury, is to be seen an apple tree which is bearing its second crop of fruit this season. The first crop was picked about Christmas time. The tree is of the Irish Peach Variety, and the fruit is very healthy. Bonos ground to a fmo meal are suitable for tho permanent improvement of grass lands, but are too slow in ac- ' tion for general purposes. It is better to apply them after they have been treated with acid. Good bonemeal contains about 4£ to 5 per cent of ammonia and 45 to 50 per cent of phosphate. Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co. advise plans now ready of sections for sale by public auction in the Wood, on account trustees in estate late Mrs Hooper.* Mr Wm.
