The Citizens' Band will give a con-cert-in the Botanical Gardens on Sunday afternoon next, commencing at 2.45 o'clock. In the orchard of Mr John Kilbride Southbiidge, Canterbury, is to be seen an apple tree which is bearing its second crop of fruit this season. The first crop was picked about Christmas time. The tree is of the Irish Peach Variety, and the fruit is very healthy. Bonos ground to a fmo meal are suitable for tho permanent improvement of grass lands, but are too slow in ac- ' tion for general purposes. It is better to apply them after they have been treated with acid. Good bonemeal contains about 4£ to 5 per cent of ammonia and 45 to 50 per cent of phosphate. Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co. advise plans now ready of sections for sale by public auction in the Wood, on account trustees in estate late Mrs Hooper.* Mr Wm. Lock will sell at an early date the freehold property at the Port belonging to Mr H. Rainier, who is leaving for England. The land comprises one acre, and has a frontage to Mary Ann street (170 links). To-morrow, at their rooms, at two o'clock, Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co will offer household furniture on account of Rev. A. Gamble, who is leaving the district, and books and sundries in the estate of the late Hon. Albert Pitt. They have also five Romney Marsh rams for sale, last of consignment. On Saturday, May, 4th, at their rooms Hardy-street, sections in Milton, Cambria, and Grove-streets, the Wood, on account of the trustees in the estate of the late Mrs A. Hooper, including two corner sections, and a dwelling ot nine rooms. Plans now ready, and particulars at their office. At a meeting of housemolders held in the Stanley Brook school on Monday the following residents were elected the School Committee for the ensuing year : Messrs J.
