The annual meeting of the householders at Appleby was well attended. A motion against the introduction of religious instruction during school hours was carried unanimously. The retir■ng Committee, consisting of Messrs John Best, Daniel O'Connell, Alfred Challies, George Blight, James O'Connor, James Shirtdiffe, and David Hammond, were re-elected. Mr O'Con nor was re-elected chairman, secretary, and treasurer.
