LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.
The Wakefield Liteiary and Debating Society held their ii-nual meeting on Tuesday evening last. There was a good atlpenaazic of members, ooa _M_ rr. good attendance of members ,and Mr A. T. Robertpon was voted to the chair, The busines of the meeting was to elect officers and make necessary arrangements for carrying on the work of the coming session. The following were elected as officers and committee : President, Mr A. T. Roberston; Vice-Presi-dent, Mr W. Hagen Secretary, Dr Hamilton ; Assistant Secretary, Mis_. Hewlett Committee, Mesdamcs Hooper ar.d Wratt, Miss Thomas, Messrs E. Hodgson, E. Hooper, and N. Hewlett. The the Farmers' Union for this cvoing.
