MARINE CASUALTIES.
[ADELAIDE, Monday. The cargo of the Norma, which wag sunk by tho Ardea Craig, was irsured for £21,400. Lloyds took £10,OUOJ and the balance was divided amongst local offic-s. Tho hull was insured in London, but the amount is not known. The steamer Palmer had a narrow efcapo early this morning. She bumped over the wreck. The Palmer, fortunately, sustained little injury. A boat which went to rescue Johnson heard cries for two hours, but owing to the rr ugh sea the boat was unable to reach him. He must hive succumbed to exposure and ex--1 a_stior. Owing to heavy weather having fuither damaged the s.s. Willyama, her owners have abandoned tho hull to the underwriters. PErITH, Monday. A prospector named Hunter has "applied for protection over a gold and silver area. He states that he has traced lodes 200 yards wide for a distance of 25 miles, and that an assay from the surface gave as high as 3oz Bdwt of gold and 14oz of silver to the ton. Practical miners acquainted with the country are inclined to be sceptic regarding the reported discovery.
