RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUES.
To the Editor. Sir, — I notice by your reports that some of the Trades and Labour candidates for the City Council are advocating the rating on unimproved values. They evidently cannot see that it would press hardest on the struggling man who is trying to add to his scanty income by growing a few tomatoes and cabbages. These residents of the Valleys, (jhe Wood, Waimea Boad, and Maitai should carefully noto the utterances of these men, who are not their friends. I hope some of the candidates will yet explain to the public just what rating on unimproved values would mean to the average working men of Nelson. I am, etc., CULTIVATOR OF SMALL SECTION. Nelson, April 23.
