THE DEATH OF MR E. M. SMITH, M.H.R.
NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. At the iuquest on the body of the late Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R., held to-day, a verdict of accidental death was returned, the jury expressing sympathy with tho bereaved wife and family. A large number of telegrams of sym- < pathy have been received from members of Parliament and the Cabinet, including the Acting Premier and Mr Massey. The Government has ordered a military funeral to be given the late Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R., who served in the Imperial and Colonial troops as an armourer. The Cabinet will be represented at the funeral by the Acting-Premier (Mr W. Hall-Jones), and Mr J. Carroll; and if able to catch this afternoon's boat at Onehunga, the Hon. R. McNab will also be present.
