DUNEDIN, Friday. I It is the intention of the Railway Department to continue running the second through express from Christchurch during the ensuing winter, as by September the turbine steamer will be running three times a week between Wellington and Lyttelton. The Minister of Railways will then determine whether traffic will warrant a continuance of the second express. INVERCARGILL, Friday. The past fortnight has been a record in this" district for the sales of stock. One firm alone has sold 5000 sheep during that period. WANGANUI, Friday. The weather was very mixed to-day. There was an earthquake at 4.45 this afternoon, which was followed by a. thunderstorm, with vivid lightning, and . a heavy downpour of rain. At 6.45 p.m. hhe weather cleared beautifully.
