(The flies forwarded, which are alive, are entirely different from the ordinary domestic fly, being reddish-brown, more shiny, narrow, with somewhat closelyfolded bronzed wings overlapping the abdomen like a ?an. The "abdomen, seen under a powerful magnifier, is round, with a distinct waist, and apparently a sting. We are not naturalists, so cannot identify the fly, but every inquiry will be maete, and the specimens will be forwarded to the Department of Agriculture. — Ed N.E.M.)
