UNLICENSED GROG AT ASHBURTON.
A CONVICTION QUASHED. (Vnited Press Association.) ' ASHHURTON, Wednesday. At the District Court last even, ing. Judge Hasolden, 'presiding^ Frederick Charles Startup appealed against the decision of Mr Wray, S.M., who had fined him £50 for selling ljcjuor in a no-li-cense 'district. Applicant's counsel ipointoed {out (that the Ma<gdstrate had amended the information from one "of keeping liquor for. sale to selling liquor to a man named Edwards. Edwards was not in 'the district at the time the liquor was received, and bad nob helped to consumo it. Therefore on that fact ' there could he no sale. The appeal was -allowed and tha conviction was quashed.
