Fielding, Dominion Minister of Finance, in de'vering t!jc Canadian Budget, anticipated that he wonld close the present fiscal year with a surplus of 13,000,000 tiollnrs. He proceeded to show that preference to the Motherland had benefitted the consumer to the extent of 28,000,000 dollars in the period of nine years. The new Canadian tariff contains 1209 items. Important chan.y-s are made in the iron and steel dirt -s, generally in favour of the British producer. The bounties for Cciadian pig iron and steel are retained for tour years longer.
