I The tramway difficulty, apparently . has been satisfactorily settled, aaidi tho ears a re running as usual. The employees am jubilant over what thev regard as a complete victory. It is under-stood that Mr Hansen has no intention' of bringing tho f matter under the notice of Uis Arbitration Court. He stated definitely at the Conference with the mon that the trou'blo was over so far as he was concerned, and ho would let the' matter drop. Tn reply to a telegram sent liy Mr R'osscv. the Union Secretary, tho Premier wired : "Your telegram re Tram Company putting: on unlicensed men, etc., to* h a'nd. Halve' referred matters to the Labour Department. (Tho matter is to bo specially watched in the interests), and safety of the travelling public. No inexperienced men should bo allowed to undertake such duties." This morning 1 Mr Rosser wired to Sir Joseph 'Ward as follows :• "Tramway strike ended satisfactorily to the Iraon. All points were conceded by the Company. Thanks for your wire of ance."(Earlier references to the trouble will bo found among the telegrams on the 4th page of this issue.)
