NORTH OTAGO SHOW.
CONSIDERABLE DECREASE OF ENTRIES. THE EXHIBITION THE CAUSE. (Urited Press Association.) OAMARU, Thursday. Perfect weather prevailed for the opening day of the 44th annual show r.f the North Otago A. and P. Association. Owing to the dry season and the Exhibition the show is seriously affecting district exhibitors. There is a considerable' decrease in entries compared with the 1905 show. The totals that year were 907, while this •year the. number is only 888. The exhibits are all of first-class merit, and include many prizetakers at this year's South Island shows. It is gratifying to note that while there is a general decrase in the number of exhibits, the sheep returns show an increase over those of last year. The numbers are — 1905, 160; 1906, 188. Entries for horses number 219, against 243 last year ; cattle, 97, as against 132 last year.
