SHOOTING.
NELSON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The trophy presented by Mr Volckman was again fired for last Saturday and yesterday afternoon, and resulted in one of the youngest hon. members getting the "leg in." The ranges were 800 and 900 yards, and the new targets, which are not the full regulation size, were used for the first time These measure 8 by 6, while the tar^ gets used at Trentham for these ranges are 10 by 6. Combining also the fact that this is the first competition at these ranges, it is not to be wondered at that the shooting was below the average. The following are the scores, seven shots, range 800 and 900 yards-—
