LONDON, .Yesterday. Later details of the disaster to Native troops in Somaiiland -show that on the morning of the 17th, believing a small reconnoitring force under Captain fl. E. Olivey, of the Central Afrioan Regiment, to be in difficulties, Colonel Cobbe sent Captain A. W. V. Plnnkett, with 160 men of the Second Battalion of African Rifles, and 48 Sikhs, with two Maxims, to extricate Captain Olivey. Upon joining the latter Capt PJunfcfltt advanced into open country seven miles west of Gumhurra, where a very strong force of the Mullah's cavalry and infantry ( attacked at close quarters. Captain Plunkett was amongst the killed.

Colonel Cobbe has informed General Manning that he is unable to withdraw, and General Manning is marching to his relief.
