Tbe weather was very favourable on I Saturday afternoon for the rifle shooting I matches which took place on the Toi Toi V-dley Range between teams selected j from the Stoke Rifles, Wai mt a Rifles, and i the Nelson Defence Rifle Club. The ' Waimea Rifles, with an average of 90 per man, were the wini er-. Ser,;! R. Irvine of tbe winning team made the possible at 1 50u and 600 yards, flnishine with the I I splendid score of 103. The score is a record one for the distriot, and no doubt equ*l to any score made in New Zealand. Appended aro the scores : —
Next Wednesday and Saturday Ihe Defence Rifle Club will compete for Mes-rs Speight and Ci'.'s trophy. The score? at 3UOand 690 jards will count for the Championship.
