| (From our Special Correspondent ) WELLINGTON, This Day. In the Legislative Council to day the Land for Settlement Bill was received by tbe House and read a first time. The Ceme'ery Trustees Validation and Appointment Bill passoJ its final stages. The debate on the second reading of the Referendum Ui >1 was entered 00. The s-cond reading of the Police Offences Bill was carried and the measure was remitted to the Statutes Revision Committee.

In the House the Premier's motion to go into supply to pass an Imprest Sipply Bill was wet by an amendment by Mr Fisher challenging the Police Administration by Commissioner Tunb idge. The Minister of Pplk-e made a spirited defence to the charges levelled against the Tom. missioner, and Mr Fisher failed to find a solitary speaker to support hie views. The debate lasted the entire afternoon and the amei.dment was eventually negatived on the voices. The Imprest Supply Bill was quickly put through all stages, the Premier stating in answer to Captain Russell that the Financial Statement would be brought down tht week after next. Private members' business set down for Wednesday lasc was then taken. The Miners' Bights Fee Reduction Bill (Mr R. McKenzie) and the Shops and Shop Assistants Bill (Mr Barclay) were read a second time on the voices without debate.
