THE MEMBER FOR THE CITY AND THE MORE MEN INCIDENT.
To thk Editor of the " Evenikg Mail." Sir.— Mr John Graham has thought fit to publish my name in a letter he haa sent to your paper. Just let me state that I have no intention to be dragged into a personal correspondence with'thati gentleman. Life is too short and time too precious to waste upon such a fruitless subject. If the member for the city is so dense as not to see you were poking fun at him, that is his misfortune. It cannot be expected that I should have the command of such elegant lan<mage as the present member for the city.° Tho real question for the subscribers to tho Patriotic Fund to consider is whether they will do more good in sending a number of men and horses in the Fourth Contingent of rough-riders than by keeping the money idle for an indefinite period. More men is the urgent need of the hour. " A wise man" will change his opinion ; a fool never." I am, etc., Nelson, 13th Feb., 11100.
