SACRILEGE AT CHRISTCHURCH.
ROBBERY FROM A CHURCH. [United Presß Association.] CHRISTCHURCH. This day. St. Mary's Roman Catholic churoh was entered by burglars last night, and the vessels in which the soorament is preserved irere taken away. The contribution boxes, which had not been opened for a long time, were also taken, and they are supposed to contain a considerable sum, The Baored vessels were afterwards found smashed in an adjacent paddock. A fine setter dog belonging to the Monastery had been found poisonea the previous day, which goos to show that the burglary was the work of an organised gang of thievea. ***—
