ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TRAIN.

A NARROW ESCAPE. [United Press Association.] CHRIST3HURCH, This day. When a special goods train was proceeding from Christchurch to Islington yesterday morning, it had a very narrow escape of being derailed. The engine felt no collide with something and the train was slopped. On examination it was found that a large pieoe of rook had ■ been thrown off the line by the engine, which had run into it. The rock had evidently been iplaced on the line with the intention of wrecking tho train.
