Christmas and Nenr Year's festivities ire over, and they have been thoroughly injoyed by all. New Year's Day (tho holiday par excellence of the district) was fully observed by moßt of the residents. At a very early hour \{i o'clock) bands of holiday makers could be seen moving off to the various resorts, the chief trysting place being the Taper and Kuitoriteri, whore they assembled in largo numbers, and by joining, ono with the other, made a pleasant and long-to-be-reineinbored holiday.
