Speaker O'Rorke Beaten in

an Election.

Auckland, June 18. At the election of a graduates' member for the University College Council, Sir Maurice O'Rorke, ' Chairman of the Council, was defeated by Mr Major, M.A., by 27 to 16, There are 84 graduates on the roll.

Mr Robert Hall, a member of the Council, promptly resigned his seat as a protest against the aciion of the graduates, in order to allow Sir Mauriae O'Rorke to bo renominated for the vacancy.
