Development of Goldfields.
I [United Press Association.] . HOKITIKA, April 26. A large meeting was held here tonight, including miners from tho surrounding goldfields, which passed resolutions urging the Government to devote more attention to the development of goldkelds in the colony, with a view toreieviog the congestion of unemployed and stimulating other industries. It was pointed out that the Kimu goldfields would employ three hundred more miners, with numerous others supplying them with timber &c, if the water supply was increased and a drainage race and sludge channel constructed. It was also pointed out that gold miners were a consuming population and largely assist other industries. The majority of speakers condemned the great neglecb by the Government of gold mining, especially when assistance to the increasing mining population proved of »nch benefit to the country.
