SCHOOL INSPECTORS' REPORTS.

+- Some discussion took place at the meeting of the Toivn Schools Committee last evening regarding the publication of Inspectors' reports. The Chairman (Mr Graham) said that lie had it on trustworthy authority that, the Education Board intended to forego the practice hitherto existing of publishing the Inspectors' reports jn the newspapers These reports were what parents renlly liked to sec and to compare the annual percentage of passes throughout the whole of the district. Ho did think it a great pity if the practice were to be discontinued. He had also been given to understand that some teachers did not like the publication of the reports because sometimes they got faint praise. Mr Haddow believed tho publishing of the reports in the newspapers to be a very good and desirable thing Mr Cooke said that it might not be true that the practice was to be discontinued. The Chairman said that he had it on trustworthy authority. Mr Topliss strongly deprecated any discontinuance of the practice. The Rev Mr Mackenzie also preferred to read the reports from the newspapers, The Committee then decided to adjourn consideration of the Inspectors' reports (which had been forwarded to it) until they had been published in tho newspapers in the usual manner.
