Under instructions from the Minister, the Under-Secretary of Public Works has written to the Wellington Harbour Board and City Council .inquiring whether these bodies still persisted in their objection to the construction of a railway goods shed at the Te Avo end of the city a,nd the reclamation from the harbour of bho land required for iti The letter sbates bhab the Governmenb still considers bhab such a sbabion is required in order to render the extension of the railwaw to Te Aro of fullest use to the large populabion ab the southern end of the city j and the Uuder Secretary is instructed to poiut oue that the prosecu" ion of the work would afford employment for a considerable number of men, and would tend largely to relieve the congestion afc preseut existing in the labour market of tho city.
