CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.

(From the Christchurch Presa,) GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The course of this market has not varied perceptibly during the week, and there are no signs of anything likely to ooour shortly to break its dreary monotony. Splendid and opportune rains fell during the last day or two, and rarely have the crops presented a more promising appearance. Wheat is if anything firmer, and prioes are again a trifle better. Several sales are reported during the week at rates favouring sellers. There is also a deoided enquiry for clean seoonds for milling purposes, Oats are still inaotive, and nothing has yet transpired to indioate any near revival in the enquiry. Barley is improving, reports from both Australia and England being more favourable. Holders are therefore confidant, and are anxious to do business, Potatoes are nominal, and no improvement before the end of the Beason beyond a dying flicker is regarded possible. Grass Seeds. — the easier tendency noted of late iv cocksfoot is more apparent, aud sales are difficult to effect. The recent rains have given a stimulus to the demand for ryegrass and clover seeds, and sales have been more frequent. Peas and Beans are quiet, but recent advices from Home report a better market for the latter. Dairy Produce.— Butter is somewhat easier, as graßs is now becoming plentiful. Cheese is listless.
