The market still remains firm for Banks and lusuranoes. Some miscellaneous stooks, notably Kaiapoi Woollen, havo had au im* portant rise with fow sellers, In mining stooks owing to the development in the'Big River, Fiery Cross, Cumberland and Golden Lead, ko., there is considerable excitement and all mines iu the Merrijigs district especially are advanoiug in price. From private information received the Cumberlaud and Big River are strongly recommended as first class investments, and iu both districts iu whioh these are situated, considerable interest ia manifested..
