The Grey Valley Difficulty.
Wrcr.-oiNtrroN, August 19. Iv reply to the representations of Messrs Lomas ard Newton, the Government have offered tc Appoint a Commission to enquire into all the circumstances connected with the Greymouth coal difficulty The delegates said they had no objection, but the Commission must not interfere with the miners' wages. Tho Premier sent a further reply pointing out that he had no intention to meddle with wages, which was a question between employers and men, but the Commission would certainly have to take cognisance matter, because wages really lay at the root of the whole difficulty. No answer has been received from the delegates, but it is probable the Commission will be appointed in any case as the dispute is regarded as seriously ahecciug the harbour on which so much money has been spent.
