The New Plymouth Murder.
New Plymouth, May 15.
At tho inquest on the Recreation Ground murder, Mr Samuel, who ia acting -for the accused, made a strong protest this morning against the manner of the Crown ProHecutor ia examing witheeses who gave evidenoe whioh was favourable o Mahi. The Crown Profiecutor, with a view to diaoredit the evidence, had been asking witnesses questions about the past life and other irrelevant matters. Mr Samuel also told the Coroner that he should not allow the witness to be treated so, as it would tend to defeat the ends of justice, for witnesses would be afraid to come before him to give evidence.
