Svdnkt, January 10. An Indian, who was prowling about Penrith, a town about 34 miles from Sydney, resisted Police- Sergeant Beattie's efforts to move him on, and drove a long sheath knife through Beattie. For a time the Indian kept a crowd at bay, but Constable Mosely drew a revolver and shot him in the abdomen. A bystander, named Zahlutar, had previously also attempted to seoure the Indian, who thereupon drove bis knife into him. All three are in a critical condition.
